I managed to survive a bit longer than in the Awakened game. This is however as long as I'll go. I consider it a waste of time.- The world is empty, looks ugly,- There are very few people around and those that have a role look like they've been taken from a parody. Their speech and character are over the line, like they are in a theatre, and a bad one. The voice acting is worse than in the awakening.- The solving of the puzzles is already boring and often counter-intuitive, but on top of all that, every x minutes, the game throws at you a completely unrelated and boring task to perform. Go get a book from a store. Go get a (horse) cab. Ok now go do that again. Why? The only place whereI can understand this beign a thing is during a tutorial.- I've only encountered two types of puzzles (btw, if you are expecting some kind of deduction stuff from the newer SH game, forget it, it's only puzzles and you are not making any decisions or deductions yourself). First one was what you would show to 6-year olds to see if their mental abilities are progressing as expected. The second type would be complete opposite, you either have to be lucky to find a solution or check online.- There are many frustrating thigs, from content and game mechanics point of view. For example a guy says his name and I KNOW that it's a fake name, because it's a name that's closely related to Sherlock Holmes (I've done some research in the game, I checked everything). And yet there is no option to doubt his words or to say he was the bad guy.Detective game for 10-year olds.. First: I found the fix to the blue screen/black screen/crashing is just doing a clean install of the graphics drivers. It is very simple if you have NVidia, as they have a tool for doing a clean install, called 'Clean Install' ironically enough. The game is mostly very fun, and you will need to have some paper and a writing utensil with you. It is not a simple click and point game by any means. You will be tested with some simple maths and memory. The puzzles are not difficult, unless you don't take the time to read them and do them proper. The confusing parts fall in line with having to do things in a particular order. You know what is coming, but it will not allow you to pick up certain objects until Sherlock Holmes knows that he needs them. This can become annoying, but simple patience prevails and the game goes on. The story is the reason to play this game, above any other reason. The story is not one that you would see in many facets as it portrays royalty in a certain light, the police force as pawns and the political side as mere clowns to play puppet to the whims of the detached from reality. Much of this is between the lines, but had me laughing and enjoying the story so much more. The creators of this game have a brilliant sense of humor and unique sense of creativity.This game is worth playing, and is an excellent addition to my gaming library.. Good Luck trying to find a game similar to this, you just won't. The National Gallery, once again. Looked for and found the paintings that I needed to find, but nothing happened. Why? Because you have to talk to the museum's director first, who tells you that he's busy and you should go look yourself. How important, how helpful, how enlightening, how meaningful. Looked at the same pictures again, voila, trigger, game goes on. Next chain of puzzles, same mechanics. This is no adventure game but an increasingly boring walking simulator full of bad animation, annoying pixel hunting, and gratuitous items on the programmers' shopping list of things you need to do in just that order to finally trigger the next far-fetched chain of puzzles.. Recommended.Good adventure game. Solid story. Difficult, most of puzzles aren't easy to figure out. The lack of translation to other languages is a real handicap, to guess some clues. Fortunatelly the game in-help system makes it possible to go ahead if you are stuck.. I like all the games in this series. Stay away from this game. I got really nauseous and actually vomited after a few hours of game play. The controls suck where you constantly have to switch between first and third person perspective.. Ah, "Holmes: Nemesis". In fact, who the heck is Arsene Lupin? Isn't Moriarty usually Holmes' nemesis? Ah, well.This game is different from all other Holmes games, in that you know who the culprit is, you just need to catch him.As such, you pretty much spend your time playing his wretched 'game' of cat-and-mouse, where Lupin deliberately leaves clues to his next hit, and you have to follow along.Like "Holmes: Awakened", you get standard features like Holmes Vision and Teleportation, which are very handy in the game. But, unlike other games, this game involves a lot of mathematical work. AUUUGH. Maths.How much Maths? Not a lot (i.e. counting, decrypting, mass conversions, etc.), but it gets rather repetitive and painful, especially in the library-museum part.And a lot of the time, you'll be following these cryptic rhymes to decode what the heck Lupin has installed for you.In terms of characters, some of them are quirky, like the museum curator, and some of them a bit of a pain in backside, like Watson. Darn it, man! Why do you have to be hungry at a time of crisis?But the Queen and Lupin part -- I don't think I'll ever get that out of my memory. Not that it was mesmerising, but it was -- "unorthodox", to say the least.Interfaces haven't changed a lot since "Holmes: Awakened". But you can certainly do a lot more things this time, with the amount of activity Lupin forces you you to complete. This means great variety in the puzzles in the game. But I still don't like the text-response puzzles.Plot-wise, not too heavy. I mean, you already know who the culprit is, so I guess this one's a more action-adventure than an actual story driven game. Good thing? Well, different.So, I'll give this one a 8/10. Could be better, but is alright where it stands.. Even though this game is titled Sherlock Holmes - Nemesis nearly everywhere, the game's actual title is Sherlock Holmes vs Arsene Lupin, which was changed in several countries for some reason; I can understand America, since as we all know Americans are cultureless swine who would have no idea who Arsene Lupin is, but the reasoning behind changing it for the UK and Australia is a mystery I'll leave to Holmes. This game is most well known in the series due to the Creepy Watson effect, in which Watson follows the player by constantly teleporting behind them due to lack of a walking animation, but what I didn't realize before was that this was actually tragically removed in a 2010 remastering of the game, putting an end to creepy Watson's legacy. It's still a very good adventure game, though, so I'd highly recommend picking it up. The puzzles in between each of the big events can get a bit tedious at times, mainly at the end, but if you can deal with the game showing its small budget every now and then it's well worth getting for fans of Sherlock Holmes.
